This is a rather unusual image for me as I am definitely not into soft focus style photography. In this situation a portion of this river was in the shade while bright sunlight fell on fall colored trees on the opposite side of the river. Orange and yellow colors reflected off the water contrasting with the deep blue color which was a reflection of the sky. Everything is in focus but with a five second exposure the water appears fluid rather than frozen in place. I frequently use long exposures on water resulting in a similar "fluid motion" effect, but usually stationary rocks or vegetation are included in the image providing a certain balance to the water's motion.
