I awoke this morning to an early autumn snow in the campground at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. I was initially disappointed that the snow was not sticking to the rock formations in the canyon, but it was sticking nicely to vegetation on the rim. Autumn snow often melts quickly and I worked quickly to find a composition with the snow on Gambel's oak and some fall leaves. I was able to expose 2 sheets of film with soft light and no wind. Within 45 minutes the sun came out, the air warmed and the snow began to quickly melt.
