The weather was cloudy the previous few hours and I had made some successful "intimate landscape" style images further up the trail (see # WAMR 071 in Gallery 2). I was hoping for a break in the clouds so I could finish the day with a "grand" landscape in dramatic evening light. In the Cascade Range, the sun frequently breaks through cloud layers the last few minutes of the day. On this day, I got lucky and exposed three sheets of film during a short window of opportunity. The view here is south from the flanks of Mt. Rainier towards the Tatoosh Range.
